The GAZ M-21 “Volga”, designated as the GAZ-21 “Volga” from 1965 onward, was a passenger car produced by the Soviet manufacturer GAZ in Gorky, now known as Nizhny Novgorod. It replaced the GAZ-M20 Pobeda in 1956 and was produced until 1970. The GAZ M-21 was the first vehicle of the Volga brand. Some components from its predecessor were used in its construction. Throughout its production period, the vehicle was modified and further developed several times. A station wagon version of the model, the GAZ M-22 “Volga”, was also produced.
