Herpa 536998 KLM Douglas DC-6B – PH-DFH “Jan van Riebeek” 1:500

1946, gerade einmal ein Jahr nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs, nahm KLM als erste europäische Airline Transatlantik-Verbindungen nach New York auf. Bis 1948 hatte sie bereits, auch mit Hilfe der damals neuen Douglas DC-6, ein umfangreiches Langstreckennetz nach Afrika sowie Nord- und Südamerika aufgebaut. 1952 in Dienst gestellt, ist diese DC-6B nach Jan van Riebeeck benannt, dem niederländischen Arzt, Kaufmann und Gründer von Kapstadt im heutigen Südafrika.
