Mini (stylized as MINI) is an automotive brand introduced in early 2001 under the direction of the BMW Group as a reinterpretation of the classic British small car Mini by Alec Issigonis. However, development of this modern version had already begun in the 1990s at the MG Rover Group, prior to its acquisition by BMW. Both the exterior design and the interior are inspired by the historic original, while the vehicle’s size is more comparable to a modern compact car or what was considered a mid-size car at the time.
