The Lockheed Super Constellation – informally known in English as the “Super Connie” – was, like the original Constellation, a four-engine airliner produced by the American manufacturer Lockheed. In addition to its civilian service, it was also used in various military variants. Within the Constellation series, the Super Constellation became the most successful version. The product line began in 1943 with the original Constellation, was further developed into the Super Constellation in 1950, and concluded in 1956 with the Starliner. Together with its competitors, the Douglas DC-6 and Douglas DC-7, it represented the technological pinnacle of piston-engine long-range airliners.
