The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (internal designation C 197, Roadster R 197) is a grand tourer sports car with distinctive gullwing doors. The model was first presented in September 2009 at the International Motor Show (IAA) and was launched on the market on March 27, 2010.
The open version, the SLS AMG Roadster, was presented at the IAA in autumn 2011 and has been available since November 19, 2011. The model designation SLS stands for “Super Leicht Sport” (Super Light Sport).
