Busch 41403 Mercedes-Benz 170V Convertible "State Police", Green, 1:87 Scale The Mercedes-Benz W 136 (marketed as the 170 V, with the "V" standing for Vorne, meaning front-engine) was a passenger car produced by Mercedes-Benz. It was unveiled in February 1936 at the 26th International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition (IAMA) in Berlin, alongside the Mercedes-Benz 260 D and the rear-engined Mercedes-Benz 170 H. The W 136 was the only pre-war Mercedes-Benz passenger car to return to production after World War II. During the war, various military and commercial vehicle versions were also built under the W 136 designation. Combined with the chassis of the larger Mercedes-Benz W 153 (230), numerous variants of the Mercedes-Benz 170 S were produced, which were later officially designated as the W 191. In 1953, the model series was replaced by the completely redesigned Mercedes-Benz W 120, better known as the "Ponton".
