The Chevrolet Bel Air was a mid-size passenger car produced in the United States by Chevrolet between the 1953 and 1975 model years. It was originally introduced as the luxurious version of the Two-Ten model and served as the brand’s top-of-the-line model at the time. With the introduction of the Impala as a separate model series in 1959, the Bel Air moved to the mid-level trim position. After the discontinuation of the Biscayne from 1973 onwards, the Bel Air became Chevrolet’s most affordable model in this class.
In the United States, the Bel Air is classified as a full-size car due to its overall length and wheelbase, while in Europe it is often categorized as a mid-size vehicle based on its equipment and market positioning.
