The VW T2 (officially VW Type 2 T2) is the second generation of Volkswagen’s van series, produced from 1967 as the successor to the VW Type 2 T1 introduced in 1950. Like the T1, the T2 is colloquially known as the “Bulli.”
The vehicle series, internally referred to as Type 2 and officially as the VW Transporter, is Volkswagen’s second passenger vehicle line for civilian use after the VW Beetle (Type 1) and continues today with the VW T7. Between 1967 and 1979, a total of 2,533,188 units of the Type 2 T2 were built at the VW Hannover plant. On October 31, 1979, the last T2 rolled off the production line; its successor was the VW T3.
The VW Microbus, introduced as a concept vehicle in 2001, drew retro design inspiration from the T1 and T2 models but was initially not produced for series production. Since 2022, the VW ID. Buzz, a fully electric transporter in retro design, has been in production.

The first and second generations were produced from spring 1974 to late summer 1992 and were both based on the VW Golf I platform. A third generation was launched in summer 2008 and was built until the 2017 model year.In October 1988, Volkswagen also introduced the Corrado. This model was originally planned in 1986 as the successor to the second-generation Scirocco. However, VW positioned the Corrado with the type designation 53i as a more technologically advanced and higher-quality sports coupe. Therefore, it was produced in parallel with the Scirocco II until its production ended in September 1992, and continued for some time afterward.
