The Mercedes-Benz Actros is a truck series produced by Mercedes-Benz under Daimler Truck AG. It was introduced in 1996 at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show as the successor to the Heavy Class (SK) and was initially also referred to as the New Heavy Class (SKN).
Extensive model update programs took place in 2003 and 2008, known as MP 2 and MP 3 (Model Project 2 and 3). The second generation was launched for the 2011 model year, initially under the name New Actros.
Additionally, an armored military version of the Actros exists, which is used, among others, by the Canadian Armed Forces.

The first and second generations were produced from spring 1974 to late summer 1992 and were both based on the VW Golf I platform. A third generation was launched in summer 2008 and was built until the 2017 model year.In October 1988, Volkswagen also introduced the Corrado. This model was originally planned in 1986 as the successor to the second-generation Scirocco. However, VW positioned the Corrado with the type designation 53i as a more technologically advanced and higher-quality sports coupe.
