Neptune Aviation mit Sitz im US-Bundesstaat Montana betreibt seit 1993 eine Flotte von Löschflugzeugen, die in USA und Kanada zur Waldbrandbekämpfung zum Einsatz kommen. Statt sich nur auf ausgediente Militärflugzeuge, wie zum Beispiel den Seeaufklärer Lockheed P-2, die teilweise aus den 1940er oder 1950er Jahren stammen, zu verlassen, war Neptune Aviation maßgeblich an der Entwicklung und Zulassung der vierstrahligen BAe 146 als Löschflugzeug beteiligt. Seit 2017 besteht die Flotte komplett aus dem in Großbritannien entwickelten Passagierflugzeug.
