The A320neo features newly developed engines as well as aerodynamic improvements. The designation “neo” stands for “New Engine Option.” Compared to current, similar models, the aircraft operates around 15 percent more fuel-efficiently.
In terms of noise reduction, the A320neo also sets new standards: The 85-decibel maximum noise contour during takeoff has been reduced by about half compared to the previous A320. Overall, the certified cumulative noise emissions are approximately 29.8 dB below current ICAO limits, representing a noticeable improvement in noise and emission levels compared to the existing fleet.
