It is powered by two high-bypass turbofan engines and, like all modern commercial aircraft, features a two-pilot cockpit. The A330-300 version completed its maiden flight on November 2, 1992. On October 19, 2017, the further developed Airbus A330neo made its first flight as the A330-900 variant. This version is equipped with a new generation of engines as well as additional technical improvements. The designation “neo” stands for “new engine option.” To differentiate it, the version produced until 2017 with the previous engines is referred to as the A330ceo (“current engine option”).
Herpa 572835 Neptune Aviation British Aerospace BAe 146-200 – N473NA / 01 1:200Neptune Aviation, based in the U.S. state of Montana, has operated a fleet of firefighting aircraft since 1993, deployed in the United States and Canada to combat wildfires. Rather than relying solely on retired military aircraft such as the Lockheed P-2 Neptune maritime patrol aircraft—some of which date back to the 1940s and 1950s—Neptune Aviation played a key role in the development and certification of the four-engine BAe 146 as an aerial tanker. Since 2017, the fleet has consisted entirely of the passenger aircraft type developed in the United Kingdom.
Herpa 536448 Varig Boeing 767-200 – PP-VNN 1:500Brazil’s former national airline was founded as early as 1927, but ceased operations in 2009. For many years, Varig ranked among the world’s leading airlines and enjoyed great popularity and international recognition. Introduced in 1987, the twin-engine 767-200ER was capable of long overwater flights to destinations such as Europe—or, in Varig’s case, South Africa. With a range of up to 12,000 kilometers, the smaller 767 even surpassed its larger fleet counterparts such as the DC-10, MD-11, or 747. To mark the 40th anniversary of the Boeing 767, this Varig model is now being released, with the collector’s series set to expand with additional models in celebration of the aircraft type’s milestone anniversary.

The A320, as the first variant, served as the base model of this low-wing aircraft family. The individual model designations are based on fuselage length: the A318 and A319 are shorter than the A320, while the stretched version is designated A321. The first A320 was delivered in 1988 and was the first civil airliner equipped with digital fly-by-wire controls. By the end of 2025, the A320 family had received well over 19,000 firm orders. More than 12,400 aircraft have been delivered to customers, with the majority currently in active service. In October 2025, the A320 family surpassed the Boeing 737 series in cumulative deliveries and has since been considered the world’s most delivered commercial aircraft, measured by total production numbers over its entire production run.

The movable wings were intended to provide good takeoff and landing performance, efficient cruising flight, and—when swept back—supersonic dash capability when required. The Tu-22M3 became the main production version of the series and performed its maiden flight in June 1977. For the complex training required on the bomber, the 43rd Center for Combat Training and Conversion at Dyagilevo continues to operate to this day. In addition to several other aircraft types, a number of Tu-22M3s—including RF-34075—are stationed there for the training of future bomber force crews.

With the BVB Fanairbus, Eurowings became the first airline worldwide to dedicate its own aircraft to football fans: The Airbus A320, registered D-AEWM, flies in a black-and-yellow special livery as an ambassador for top-level football and fan culture within the European route network of Eurowings – primarily operating from Dortmund, the home base of the BVB Fanairbus. BVB fans were actively involved in the design of the aircraft in advance. They were able to help decide which of the most popular moments and stars in BVB history would be immortalized on the aircraft. After a vote by more than 10,000 Borussia fans, the winning motifs were selected. A highly demanding challenge during the painting of the Airbus, as the illustrations of the nine most legendary BVB moments had to be designed so that football fans could instantly recognize players and iconic scenes. The concept was executed and staged in the signature drawing style of the football artists “Hands of God”.In cooperation with the artists of “Hands of God”, Eurowings, and Borussia Dortmund, Herpa offers the “Fanairbus” in no fewer than five variants: As a die-cast metal model in the scales 1:500 (Item No. 536981) and 1:400 (Item No. 562829), as a highly detailed finished model in 1:200 (Item No. 572750), and as part of the popular Snap-Fit series also in 1:200 (Item No. 613927) and, as the largest version, even in 1:100 (Item No. 613934).Licensed by Eurowings Aviation GmbH BVB09 and BORUSSIA DORTMUND are registered trademarks of BVB Merchandising GmbH Design by HANDS OF GOD

Herpa 572149 Tupolev TU-22M3M “Backfire” - M3M prototype 1:200Even more than 50 years after the prototype’s first flight, the TU-22M long-range bomber remains a formidable weapons system. To ensure it continues to do so for years to come, a modernization program is currently underway for a number of the aircraft still in service. These upgrades transform the twin-jet-powered bomber into the TU-22M3M, which completed its maiden flight in prototype form in December 2018. A distinctive feature of the bomber is its variable-sweep wings, adjustable between 20 and 65 degrees, providing good takeoff and landing performance, efficient cruise flight for extended range, or—when fully swept back—high speeds of up to twice the speed of sound. The TU-22M3 is also capable of launching cruise missiles from long distances, allowing it to strike targets without entering the dangerous range of enemy air defenses. By 1993, the manufacturer in Kazan had built 514 TU-22M aircraft of various versions, most of them in the M3 variant. At least 60 examples remain today, although not all are operational, and not all can be upgraded to the M3M standard. The upgrades primarily include improved navigation and communication systems.

As only three refueling stops were required instead of the four previously needed with the DC-4, flight time was reduced from 41 to 30 hours. In 1952, to strengthen its transpacific services, Philippine Airlines received this DC-6B with the slightly lengthened fuselage, named “Magellan’s Cross / Cruz de Magallanes.” The wooden cross, which still exists today, is said to have been erected by Spanish explorers under the leadership of Ferdinand Magellan upon their arrival in Cebu, Philippines, in 1521.

The main difference compared to its predecessor lies in the General Electric CF34-3B1 engines used. These feature improved internal cooling, allowing for greater range than the previously installed powerplants. The CRJ200 was offered in two main variants: the CRJ200ER (Extended Range) with a range of 1,345 nautical miles (2,491 km), and the long-range CRJ200LR (Long Range), capable of flying up to 1,700 nautical miles (3,148 km). In addition, the CRJ200PF (Package Freighter) was developed as a dedicated cargo version optimized for longer distances and lower payloads. On October 30, 2005, Bombardier announced that production of the CRJ200 would be temporarily suspended from mid-January 2006. The decision reflected market developments: due to rising passenger numbers and declining yields, many airlines began favoring larger aircraft types.
